School assembly

While pupils in the UK are embarking on the first term of a new school year, Ugandan schools are gearing up for the third and final term of the school year (16th September – 6th December). This term is crucial as end of year exam results will determine each pupil’s future in terms of moving up to the next level, whether that is a new class within the same school or a move from primary to secondary level. A low mark will result in the year having to be repeated.

Photos below from the second term, taken in July and August, show students taking the end of term 2 assessments, participating in the area school sports, taking care of the school compound, and attending school assembly. Click/tap on them for a larger view.

Never underestimate the difference you make to these precious children. You not only help provide for their daily needs but also give opportunity for a secure future. The skills learnt at Adonai go way beyond the academic: pupils are given pastoral, health and spiritual care and taught the importance of making a difference in the community. Thank you.

CLEANING

“At Adonai centre, we believe in teaching children the value of responsibility, teamwork and ownership. As part of this, we have a child-led cleaning program where children take turns helping to maintain the cleanliness of their centre including sweeping, picking up trash and recyclables, cleaning class rooms and many others.”
